Frequently asked questions
The practical answers to planning an Indian Ocean island escape. Can’t find what you need? Talk to a specialist.
Answers, before you ask
Everything is tailored, so the best answer is always a conversation - but these cover what most travellers want to know first.
Design my tripWhen is the best time to visit the Indian Ocean islands?
They are year-round destinations, but each island has its own rhythm. Madagascar is driest and best April to November, with humpback whales off Nosy Be from July to October. Mauritius, Seychelles and Zanzibar stay warm all year - the cooler, drier months (roughly May to October) suit most travellers. Réunion pairs coastal warmth with cooler highlands. We advise the right window for your island, interests and dates.
Do I need a visa?
It depends on your nationality and island. Seychelles and Mauritius are visa-free or visa-on-arrival for many passports; Madagascar issues a tourist visa on arrival (a small fee, usually around €35); Réunion follows French/Schengen rules; Zanzibar requires a Tanzania visa. We confirm the exact requirements for your passport before you travel.
How far ahead should I book?
For peak season, honeymoons and the most sought-after lodges, three to six months is ideal - the best rooms book out early. We can also arrange shorter-lead-time trips when availability allows, so it’s always worth asking.
Are your prices per person, and what is included?
Prices are indicative and usually quoted per person sharing. A quote includes the stated accommodation, activities, transfers and island routing; international flights are typically excluded unless noted. Every quote is reviewed by a consultant and final pricing is confirmed before you commit - no surprises.
How does “design my trip” work?
Tell us your dates, travel style and budget. We send an indicative quote with ideas - no obligation. Then we refine the accommodation, activities, transfers and routing together until it feels right, and you confirm. A specialist looks after you from first enquiry to your last transfer home.
Can I combine two islands in one trip?
Absolutely - twin-centre journeys are a speciality, for example Madagascar’s wild islands paired with a Mauritius beach, or a Seychelles-and-Zanzibar combination. We handle the inter-island flights and logistics so the days flow without wasted transit.
Is it suitable for families and honeymooners?
Yes to both. We tailor pacing, room types and activities to who’s travelling - from private-pool honeymoon villas to family-friendly lodges with space and easy logistics.
Do you book flights?
We plan and can arrange your international and inter-island flights, or work alongside flights you’ve booked yourself - whichever suits you.
What about payment and cancellations?
Terms are set per itinerary - typically a deposit to secure your trip and the balance before travel - and cancellation conditions follow each lodge or supplier. Your consultant sets all of this out clearly in writing before you pay anything.
